Private Information Protection Policy

During its course of operations, Fathering Japan (FJ) encounters the personal and private information of individuals. This policy outlines our official policy for dealing with this information to ensure that it is treated in the utmost of security and is never misused. The official policy is detailed in Japanese on our Japanese language homepage. This is merely an abbreviated version translated to English for reference purposes only.

We take our role as a not-for-profit organization seriously and intend to lead by example within the community by publicizing our policy for the treatment of personal information.

For the purposes of this policy "personal information" refers to any information that can be used to ascertain the identity of a person. This can include, but is not limited to, name, address, birthday, telephone number, email, etc.


1. When is personal information required by FJ?
Personal information is required of all full and partial members of FJ.


2. Use of Personal information
Personal information gained from members will be primarily used for the following purposes

* To provide a more relevant service
* To provide relevant information about our activities
* To make contact with members where appropriate

We reserve the right to analyze personal information data in a manner that doesn't compromise inviduals to use the results for purposes other than the above.


3. Provision of personal information to third parties
We will not provide personal information to third parties except for the following instances:

* Preconsent from the member
* Legal/compliance reasons
* When part of our core service is being provided in conjuction with a third party
In this case we will limit disclosure to the bare minimum and sign a confidentiality
agreement with the third party.
* To protect public interest


4. Management of personal information
We are enforcing the following policies to protect personal information from misuse, loss, leaking etc
* Broadly accepted and reasonable policies concerning personal information
* Additional methods defined by FJ's internal rules that allow us to adapt to social changes.
We will continually work to ensure that these internal rules are up to date and all staff are
sufficiently educated.


5. Updates in our privacy policies
FJ reserves the right to update this privacy policy at any time due to changes in the law or our service content. We will update members of these changes on our homepage.
